Today, I’m pleased to introduce Maya of Alaska From Scratch! Maya’s blog offers simple, homemade recipes using local Alaska ingredients. After moving from California to Alaska in 2011, she found that eating at restaurants and shopping at grocery stores were more expensive and less convenient. As a result, she ended up spending more time in her kitchen cooking for her family. Alaska From Scratch was thus born and a whole collection of yummy recipes were posted online for readers to enjoy!

I came upon Maya’s blog when I began researching food in Alaska. In Korea (where I am now), my husband and I eat at restaurants all the time because they can be found everywhere and they’re affordable. However, I know that definitely won’t be the case in Newhalen. Since we’ll be cooking every day, I’m starting to gather a collection of recipes I want to try.

Honestly, one of the reasons I’m most excited to move to Alaska is the salmon. Salmon is my favorite food and I would have no problem eating it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Therefore, I decided to create my dream meal plan using three salmon recipes featured on Maya’s blog.

BREAKFAST: Smoked Salmon, Egg, & Avocado on Toast
